Cargolux has curbed its flights to China because Chinese Lunar New Year holidays were extended until 9 February.

The decrease of China-bound flights is of course also due to the spreading of the coronavirus. Cargolux Manager for Occupational Health and Safety Luc Loschetter stressed that the cargo airline had already defined its travel regulations several days ago.

In his words: "We reduced business tips to an absolute minimum. We informed the crew and the pilots. They are provided with face masks and disinfecting tissues in case they cannot wash their hands with soap." He added that the crews were given clear instructions about how to react if a person displays symptoms of an infection.

Loschetter explained that the airline had adopted the advice given by the Ministry of Health. Cargolux also introduced a helpline that pilots can call around the clock to receive further information from doctors.

The airline is also being briefed by the World health Organisation and ready to implement further measures if the situation deteriorates.
