The University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg City History Museum launched a collaborate new tool offering a virtual glimpse of the city's history.

The www.luxatlas.lu website showcases 200 years of the city's development in a click, highlighting different iterations of the capital such as the fortress back in 1867, the UNESCO boundaries, and more. The tool allows anyone to explore the mapping history of the capital, showing both aerial impressions and land registry maps to compare the development.

The earliest map available on the site is an early land register map from 1820.

The website, developed by a team from the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg City History Museum, should be developed further as the project continues. The team will add more maps, photographs, and further information in the next two years.
