Police have appealed for vigilance when using parking meters to prevent criminals from stealing credit cards and other belongings.

The police have shared a message of caution on social media after a woman had her credit card stolen on Avenue Jean-Pierre Pescatore on Saturday morning.

The perpetrators convinced their victim that the parking meter was unable to accept change and recommended the woman pay with her credit card. During this incident, they observed the woman's PIN and used a distraction technique to take the card.

Two other such cases were reported on Saturday morning.

The police have encouraged the public to pay attention and exercise caution when using parking meters. When entering one's PIN, always cover the numbers from view, and if the machine does not release the credit card, it's best to immediately contact one's bank to cancel it. Suspicious activity should be reported to police.
