The national health fund (CNS) is currently dealing with a case of misappropriation of funds.

The embezzlement first came to light last week and the two CNS agents who were allegedly involved in these criminal activities have since been relieved of their duties.

A joint statement by the ministry for social security and the national health fund, CNS, states that the CNS initiated all necessary internal and legal procedures as soon as they found out about the accusations. The CNS has since pressed charges against the two individuals suspected of having embezzled funds.

On Monday, the administrative board of the CNS and president Christian Oberlé jointly informed the public of the basic facts in this case. On Tuesday, members of the responsible parliamentary commission will be briefed in more detail.

Representatives for the CNS did not reveal any detailed information about the case to the public. The public has not been informed on the manner of misappropriation nor on the extent of the damage to prevent any interference with the investigation and upcoming trial.
