A major operation was planned in Ettelbruck which enabled the police to catch fifteen motorists who had consumed alcohol. Twelve were penalised, three of which had their licences withdrawn on the spot.
Two licences were also withdrawn following an accident early on Friday evening on the A13 motorway. The two drivers involved had been drinking too much, the police explained in a press release on Saturday morning.
Another accident in the Serra tunnel in Kirchberg at around 3 am also led to the withdrawal of the licence of the motorist involved. According to the authorities, the motorist had managed to block the tunnel with his vehicle, which was removed by a tow truck.
Seven additional drivers were checked and had their licences withdrawn during controls that were carried out in Belvaux, Differdange, Esch-Belval, Mertert and Luxembourg City.
