The Grand Ducal police received a number of NYE reports including loud music, neighbours fighting, and violations of the firework ban.
Across the country, police were forced to intervene around 70 times on New Year’s Eve due to noise disturbances. In the majority of cases, the issue was resolved peacefully, but in some instances people reacted poorly and were taken into custody overnight.
Among these instances were the following infractions:
- A drunken individual caused unrest in a Luxembourg City café and refused to pay their bill. They were taken into custody for their aggressive behaviour and public disturbance.
- In Kehlen, a highly intoxicated person caused a ruckus at a private residence and was taken into custody as they posed a risk to themselves and others.
- In Hollerich, a drunken individual blocked the entrance to a bistro and behaved aggresively towards security staff. They were taken into custody following a medical check.
