Extensive renovations6-year roadworks on German A64 to have repercussions on Luxembourg

RTL Today
A construction project launching on Monday on the German A64 motorway will last for six years and is likely to affect Luxembourg commuters.

The stretch of motorway between the Sauer Valley Bridge and Trier-Ehrang/Quint is to be subjected to extensive renovations, covering over 14 kilometres. It will most affect drivers travelling between Luxembourg and Trier, or the greater Rhine region.

From 17 July onwards, traffic will be restricted to just three lanes at the German border in Wasserbillig. In the morning, two lanes will be open to vehicles travelling towards Luxembourg, while the reverse will occur in the evenings, in order to manage rush hour traffic.

There will be a speed limit of 80 km/h for the duration of the roadworks.

The bridge itself is to be renovated in 2026, while the overall project is planned to last until 2029.
