During renovations at Foyer Ulysse, 45 homeless people will have to leave the home. Caritas launched an appeal to find an alternative home for the people concerned. Ukrainian refugees are currently housed in the building that formerly housed the offices of the newspaper Luxemburger Wort, but there is still one floor available, says Leo Wagener, auxiliary bishop and vicar general of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg.
According to Caritas, there are still a number of practical issues to be resolved. Some renovation work still needs to be done, says Caritas Director General Marc Crochet. This includes the construction of bathrooms and a separate entrance from the street. Caritas is currently working on these issues with the Ministry of Family Affairs and the municipality of Luxembourg City. “Overall, the solution looks promising,” Crochet said.
