We’re expanding our team and looking for another freelance editor and translator (separate roles) to join us in delivering Luxembourg’s most dynamic and up to date content to our growing audience.
Whichever of the two roles interests you, working for RTL Today means you will get the opportunity to flex your creative muscles while working alongside a varied group of people - some from here, others from further afield. It’s a very supportive environment in which to start of a journalistic career, and we always try to make sure everyone has the opportunity to take on additional projects, series, or one-off articles, videos, etc., that interests them.

Working for us as an editor means you will take on a wide variety of tasks on a daily basis – while the core of the job lies in editing and proofreading news articles and keeping the website fresh and visually interesting, the job goes well beyond that as well.
What sets us apart is our wealth of interesting original content aimed specifically at the expat audience (though the locals seem to like it as well!), so being creative and enjoying the process of researching and crafting insightful original pieces is also really important.

With that said, there’s also ample opportunity to do other work that may interest you - from producing video and audio pieces, to.. well, you pitch it, and we’ll consider it!
So.. if that sounds like something you might enjoy, we’d love to hear from you! If you can edit audio and/or video that’s a definite bonus, but far from required. The same goes for playing table tennis – though ideally you won’t be too good at it… or at least let us win every once in a while!
As one of our freelance translators, your job is to keep an eye on what our sister sites are doing and translate anything that may also be of interest to our readers – while keeping in mind that the expat audience may not have quite as in-depth knowledge of local affairs, people, and institutions as do the locals, so you may have to add little explanations here and there.
Our main requirement for our translators is that you speak/understand both Luxembourgish and French. You can be more comfortable in one language than the other, but we will need you to translate from both sister sites. You don’t have to have studied translation for the role, as we usually tweak and adapt our articles to better fit our audience. In that sense, we aren’t looking for people to be as true to the original articles as possible!
Many of our translators have also got a love of writing and contribute original articles and series as a way of building their journalistic portfolio – so it’s a great steppingstone for anyone who may be interested in writing and journalism. The senior editorial team are always looking for fresh new content and new voices, and will be more than happy to help you along the way!
For this position you can work from home (though you are more than welcome to join us in the office as well), and the hours are flexible so as to fit your schedule.

We’ll be sending none other than Gerry “man of the people” Erang along between 10am and 2pm.
