If you're in need of a crispy snack then you're in for a treat: according to an annual ranking, Belgium's best chips are sold just five minutes away from Luxembourg's border.
With this news, the daily cross-border commute might just start to move in the opposite direction?
Website Les-friteries.com released its annual ranking of the best chip shops in Belgium. For it to reach its conclusion, the site analysed "the popularity index of 1145 establishments in 2023" to establish a top 15.
The province of Luxembourg is represented frequently across the list. Regulars will recognise the names of several well-known establishments in the region.
Moreover, on the Luxembourg side (the Grand Duchy, not the province), Luxembourgers will be delighted to discover that chip shop number 1 is located just on the other side of the border, in Aubange.
La Friterie Chez Bryan in Aubange takes the number one spot, just behind La baraque à Frites in Jambes.
Despite being widely dubbed 'French', fries are a prized product in Belgium and its frites culture was added to the UNESCO cultural treasures list in 2017.
