Visitors to Schifflange's Konschthaus have been able to explore The Sweet Spot since July, an event that blurs the lines between an art exhibition and a pop-up market. Spanning two floors, the initiative brings together more than 60 artists and creators, offering a unique mix of jewellery, installations, prints, and designer pieces. By moving away from the classic gallery format, Konschthaus has transformed into an innovative space where creators and visitors alike can enjoy a fresh experience. The project is the brainchild of the non-profit association Augenschmaus, which was founded in 2017 by artists Krys Pleimelding (aka Shepherd), Sascha Di Giambattista (aka Giamba), and Gilles Scaccia.
According to Krys Pleimelding, Augenschmaus aims to make local and Luxembourgish creative work visible and accessible to a wider public. At the same time, they want to provide artists from urban or street art backgrounds with new visibility and access.
The exhibition on the first floor, which includes works by Samuel Levy, Charl Vinz, and Letizia Romanini among others, marks Augenschmaus's first foray into curating an art show. Until now, the association has been primarily known for organising curated creator markets.
Sascha Di Giambattista, who is also exhibiting at Konschthaus, explains that previously they had agreed that they would exhibit everything except fine art – graphic design, illustration, posters, accessories – essentially art that did not have a platform. For the exhibition, everyone chose a few favourite artists and invited them, which, according to Di Giambattista, worked out really well.
The Sweet Spot runs at the Konschthaus in Schifflange until 12 September and is open from Wednesday to Saturday between 2pm and 6pm.
