It’s probably one of the USA’s best kept secrets and a veritable mecca for conspiracy theorists. The mysterious Area 51 lies in the Nevada desert, around 100km away from Las Vegas. The air force base has particularly been associated with conspiracy theories pertaining to UFOs.
The 22-year-old creator of the original Facebook page described the rationale behind the event as follows: “We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens.” The slogan of the event is clear: “They can’t stop all of us.”
As a result of the event’s popularity, other events spawned such as “Alienstock,” which was originally billed as a music festival.
It remains unclear whether or not crowds will attemptto storm the airbase. First UFO hunters have reportedly set up camp in the Nevada desert already. A Lincoln County sheriff told the BBC that an extra 150 officers and 300 paramedics have been brought in to deal with the expected masses of alien enthusiasts.
