We're all a sandwichTwo guys from New Zealand and Spain teamed up to make an 'earth sandwich'

It's more complicated than you may think - they calculated the exact spot to put each slice, on either side of the planet, at the same time.

As so many of the weird and wonderful things that happen on this planet, it all started on Reddit.

New Zealander Etienne Naude figured out that the exact opposite point of the Earth (or antipode) to where he was would be in Spain.. so he went to the /r/spain subreddit and asked if anyone there lived near the exact location he had pin pointed.

Lo and behold, someone (Angel Sierra, who also happens to be a chef), did. Things developed from there, and they worked out exactly where each of them had to go, set a time (easier said than done given the time difference), and, well, we were all made into sandwich filling. I hope you showered first.

And because that wasn’t quite enough, Etienne Naude took things one step further by laser-cutting an ‘Earth sandwich’ into 20 slices of bread.

Want to make your own Earth sandwich?

Etienne Naude says he used this tool to work out the antipode to where he’d be placing his slice of bread. Once you’ve got that located, all you need is a friend on the other side of the world..
