The Melissa Dalton ShowThe Printemps des Poètes-Luxembourg: 18-years of poetry

RTL Today
Melissa chats with François Brouxel, the new president of Printemps des Poètes-Luxembourg, who shares the story of the festival’s 18th year – a celebration of multilingual poetry and creativity.

The Printemps des Poètes-Luxembourg festival returns for the 18th time on 25, 26, and 27 April, offering a celebration of poetic creation through the voices of eleven poets from across Europe. With its volcanic theme, this year’s festival embraces the explosive creative energy, life force, and imagination that transforms words into visions.

Newly appointed festival president François Brouxel joined Today Radio’s Melissa Dalton in the studio to discuss the festival’s history, its unique multilingual nature, and his personal journey back to poetry after years dedicated to his career and family. François, a practicing lawyer since 1992, spoke about the mental overload that came with years of professional focus and how he now seeks to reconnect with his poetic roots.

Originating in France, the Printemps des Poètes found a second home in Luxembourg, evolving into its own event with a distinct Luxembourgish style and a dedicated ASBL to organise it. The festival is open to all, not just French speakers, and welcomes poets performing in their native languages. To bridge any language barriers, live interpretations are provided, with translators capturing not just the words but the rhythm and musicality of each performance.

François emphasised the accessibility of the festival: entry is free, and visitors are warmly invited to pop in, even for just half an hour. With poetry performed in multiple languages and a focus on the power of live interpretation, Printemps des Poètes-Luxembourg offers a rare, immersive experience where the beauty of poetry transcends linguistic boundaries.

Tonight’s event takes place at the Forum Da Vinci on Boulevard Grand-Duchesse Charlotte. Poetry is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or background, and all are warmly invited to come along to the event, even just for a short visit.
