Super Wings is twice Emmy-nominated children’s animated series and asks a question that many adults cannot answer:
What is the name of the oldest city in Germany? Trier, of course!
In the third season the episode “Up and Down” (first broadcast outside of Germany way back in 2019) Jett, he of the glossy red paint job, goes to Trier. Small interview from the German version: “Germany’s oldest city, over 2000 years old. Trier is particularly known for its ancient buildings. They took care of it so well that many of them are still inhabited today”, says Jett as he flies through what would assume to be NATO controlled airspace.

Jett’s approach to Trier follows the same route a vast tuber of cross-border workers would do, except, you know, not airborne. You can see all the sights, such as the Dom and the Basilika, before he heads to a young girl’s house in an area that will be unfamiliar to many a Trier resident (this editor included).
Another unfamiliar element will be use of the word ‘Schnell’, in the original version this is stated as meaning fast, which was correct. Oddly, though, in the German version they opt for a Trier expression for “fast”, which should sound something like this: “gelijen”. This should mean “gillijen”, which, according to the Trier dictionary (including older dialects), can also mean “hasty”, but is hardly used in modern language.
