After three accidents, Edie Pope had had enough and built the fake police officer. The speed limit had recently been reduced from 60 mph to 40 mph but drivers ignored this.
''Something had to be done’’ Pope said. Initially she wanted a real speed camera to be installed but the costs of £70.000 were too high. That’s why Pope took to crafts and built the fake police officer herself.
Apparently you can really ''hear the cars slowing down’’ and according to the police the scarecrow is not unlawful.
Perhaps a similar scheme should come to Luxembourg.
