German Chancellor Angela Merkel looked genuinely perplexed when the Queen Maxima of the Netherlands started speaking about France as the pair stopped for a chat outside the UN headquarters.
The Dutch queen explained that she talked about issues of the women’s movement with “France.” The English word France caused a bit of confusion as Merkel failed to understand who exactly “Franz” was. When Queen Maxima repeated that she held discussions “with France,” Merkel perplexedly asked again “which Franz” her interlocutor was referring to.
When it ultimately dawned on Merkel that Queen Maxima was talking about France rather than individual named Franz, the two women started laughing.
A video of the entertaining exchange quickly went viral on social media... to the amusement of countless Twitter users.
