Micheal Winslow is an American actor, beatboxer and comedian. He’s probably most known for his role as a radar operator in the movie Spaceballs. His unique skill? During one of the scenes he created and performed all of the sound effects himself. Mel Brooks the writer and director of the movie stated that by doing so Micheal Winslow saved him money.
As a “voicetramentalist” he’s been enjoying a very long career. He took a hiatus after the death of the mother of his two children died. But he came back for the 16th season of America’s Got Talent. There he made it to the semi-finals and introduced a whole new generation to his unique abilities.
Now he is performing a unique show in Luxembourg at the Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains. It will have stand-up elements but also musical elements. While some of the segments are rehearsed, a lot of the show is also improvised as Winslow loves to just go with the flow. Currently touring with a drummer and a keyboardist, the show’s host wants to ensure enough variety in each show.
Ahead of his performance he was a guest on the Sam Steen show on RTL Today Radio. Not even a minute into his interview he started showing off his unique ability to imitate sounds and voices. His impressions are so good he joked about not being allowed to re-create them on cruise ships or airplanes anymore. For all his voice impressions listen back to the full interview:
You can find tickets for the show on the Casino 2000 website. There you’ll also have the possibility to participate in a fundraiser to meet the beatboxing legend with all proceeds going to Télévie, a Luxembourgish charity for cancer research. Doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 8pm.
