The man told police he did not own snakes and had no idea where it came from. He found it nestled between his couch cushions when he was looking for his keys.
The fire chief headed to the man’s home and removed the almost 2-metre long snake, which identified as a red-tailed boa constrictor. According to the fire chief, it was “very gentle, very docile.”
Another police officer who was also at the scene concluded: “Some folks like snakes. I don’t want to judge. If that what makes them happy, then more power to them. I prefer dogs.”
The snake is now in the care of a local pet shop.
