They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away and the new segment featured on The Home Stretch aims to do just that! Appropriately named “An Apple A Day”, it focuses on health, well-being and looking after oneself.

In the second instalment, Melissa spoke with nutritionist Camilla Sardelli who provided some simple tips and tricks for enjoying the holiday festivities and all the delicious dishes that come along with it.

Camilla, who is originally from Denmark, takes a pragmatic approach to meals by acknowledging that while we are all the same, we are in fact different. For example, Camilla finds it is vital to develop a full timeline and history in order to tailor advice to each individual and their unique situation.

Camilla encourages everyone that there is a way to approach the holiday dinner table in a sensible way without being a fanatic about counting calories.

“It’s the festive season and I think you have to enjoy it of course”

The holidays are a time to be enjoyed, and through being a bit more mindful, we can avoid excessive fatigue, feeling too full and those pesky holiday kilos. (And we know what you are thinking, but there is no talk of cutting out treats or even alcohol!)

Make sure to listen to the full discussion between Camilla and Melissa, to learn how to make the perfect holiday plate filled with equal parts nutrients, festive spirit and of course indulgence!
