Luxembourger Joel Marques Cunha impressed the panel on Sunday evening with his soulful performance of Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go”, with rapper Shirin David and judging duo Bill and Tom Kaulitz practically pressing their buttons from the first note.
Marques, 25, lives in Differdange with his mother and sisters, and works as an educator. Although he recently began uploading musical clips to social media, he confessed to the programme that he had often struggled with nerves when confronted with the idea of performing before an audience.

Despite this, his strong performance on Sunday meant the Luxembourger had his pick of coaches, with all of the judges expressing an interest. The panel, made up of David, the Kaulitz brothers, Giovanni Zarella and Ronan Keating - although Keating was barred after David chose to block him - all offered to mentor Marques through the show’s next stages, with Marques ultimately opting for the former Tokio Hotel stars as his coaches.
