Galentine, who shares her unique lifestyle on TikTok under the handle @mybloodygalentine, recently posted a video explaining why her landlord is struggling to find new tenants. The video quickly went viral, amassing over 1.4 million views within a day.
The home’s decor, which also includes bags of hair and toe tags, has left potential renters taken aback. However, Galentine, who grew up in an antique store and worked as an embalmer, sees her collection as stories rather than objects.
One of the standout pieces, a used coffin, was once a shipping coffin used to transport a body from country to country. Galentine acquired it after it was discarded and transformed it into a coffee table.
Other items also have their own histories. The doors in her entryway were once part of the Danvers State Hospital, a now-closed mental hospital in Massachusetts. The tombstone was originally designed for a pastor who moved to another church.
“None of the stuff is stolen, and everything has a story,” Galentine told Insider. “To me, I feel like a custodian or a steward of the items instead of being a collector or owner.”
Galentine hopes that those who enter her home or view her TikTok videos understand this. “I do think it is shocking to people,” she said. “But I want to reinforce the idea that this isn’t a morbid curiosity. It’s about the people and their stories.”
