Feel like you need to scream?Iceland's unique coronavirus stress relief solution

RTL Today
Have the months of lockdown and restrictions sent you spiralling? Do you feel trapped, stressed, and like you need to let it all out? The Icelandic tourist board has got you covered.

Inspired by the practice of “scream therapy”, Visit Iceland has launched an initiative to help people around the world cope with the frustrations caused by Covid-19.

At lookslikeyouneediceland.com, visitors can record their screams of frustration to be played back at a series of remote locations around the scenic island. The screams are played through bright yellow speakers dotted around the Icelandic countryside.

Participants will receive a clip of their own scream being played at their chosen location. You can also listen to other screamers on the site, if that is your preference.

The initiative is designed to draw the attention of potential tourists and highlight Iceland as a travel destination without encountering many crowds. Although the campaign is light-hearted, those who have seen their mental health dip as a result of the pandemic should seek professional support where possible.
