As reported by several German media outlets, German actor Alexander Held passed away at the age of 67 on 12 May.

As confirmed by German news agency dpa by his friend, TV producer Sven Burgemeister, actor Alexander Held passed away at the age of 67 on 12 May. Best known for leading roles in German crime series such as München Mord and Stralsund, he also appeared in some of German cinema's most celebrated productions, including Napola - Elite für den Führer, Der Untergang, Sophie Scholl - Die letzten Tage and Der Schuh des Manitu.

Internationally, he was perhaps best known for his role in Steven Spielberg's seven-time Oscar-winning film Schindler's List. Various media reports have cited a short illness as the cause of death.
