Elie Billy posted a triumphant photograph of his car’s mileage on Facebook, showing himself as over the moon that his Peugeot 406 had made it to one million kilometres without requiring any parts changed. It appears that Peugeot’s engineer never anticipated the car reaching such a mileage as the counter remained stuck at...999,999 km.

It appears the 406 has a life worthy of being dramatised for film. Billy said the car had been a taxi between 2002 and 2016 and that he had inherited it from his father at 911,000 km. As for the car’s specifications, its engine, turbo, gearbox, and main gasket were all the originals.

A Volvo that travelled 5 million km!

The driver wrote that the story ends beautifully at one million, but could begin for an attempt to get to two million with the help of Peugeot.

A reader commented on the situation, pointing out that several years ago a Turkish taxi driver reached a million with a Mercedes. The manufacturer then asked for him to give them the taxi so they could exhibit it and in thanks, gave him a fancier model. The reader quipped ‘I doubt Peugeot has this kind of class!’

However, the Peugeot’s impressive mileage is not necessarily rare, as an American managed to drive more than 5 million kilometres with a Volvo!
