A bird with an unusual posture has been nicknamed “gorilla crow” after a video of it flexing its wings at a Japanese mall went viral on social media.
(Un)fortunately, there is a very rational explanation... Kaeli Swift, who is a corvid researcher, explains that the bird was likely just assuming a “sunning” posture.
She added: “When birds sun they drop their wings and cock their tails. At the right angle that could obscure the legs and tail making it look like they’re missing.”
