Parking offenders are currently let of the hook in Thale, Germany: the authorities put lighthearted Christmas messages instead of the usual parking fine under the windshield wipers.
The unusual ticket reads: “Ho ho ho... this was a close one! Traffic regulations also apply during Christmas. You definitely just forgot to park your vehicle according to StVO regulations. Today we refrain from lodging a complaint or issuing a fine. Your public order office wishes you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.”
The city also hopes to raise drivers’ awareness of the regulations, said head of the regulatory authority Stefan Oberacker. He added that “you also have to be able to react with humour.”
However, the 0-euro tickets were only issued for minor parking offences.
