Just 'lion' aroundBerlin's second lion sighting proves to be false alarm

A concerned Berlin resident contacted police on Tuesday, believing he had spotted another lion on the loose in the city.

A mere two weeks after alleged sightings of a lioness in the German capital - which was later believed to be a wild boar - police officers in Berlin were once again called out to investigate a potential big cat on the loose.

A concerned resident in the Dahlem district rang the authorities at 7pm on 2 August to report the sighting of a lion in a nearby park. As the man was convinced the creature was real, a police patrol was dispatched to the scene.

However, officers quickly discovered the creature in question, sprawling comfortably on a transformer box, was merely a large stuffed toy. As proof, the police posted an image of the plush toy on “X” (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, adding the comment “This time there is no doubt: it is not a wild boar”.
