Much like in Luxembourg, face masks covering nose and mouth are mandatory on Berlin’s public transport. And, again much like in Luxembourg, some people may wear the masks but leave their nose exposed. Public transport operator BVG has come up with a more or less ingenious solution to make people wear their masks correctly: body odor.

The company took to social media and announced: “Given that so many people think they can wear their masks under their noses, we’re getting tough.” In case you were wondering, “getting tough” in this context means that the transport operator is urging travelers not to use deodorant. BVG added: “So, now do you still want to have your nose out?”

The operator is known for its satirical advertising campaigns. They for instance recently took aim at US president Donald Trump. One of the company’s recruitment posters read: “Well, Donald, don’t you want to become a bus driver instead? Think about it! You give the directions, you’ll always have a reason to swear, you can rip people off, being overweight isn’t an issue, neither are small hands and no-one expects you to be tactful.”
