The 75-year-old actor witnessed a two-vehicle collision in Los Angeles on Wednesday, in which one of the vehicles overturned. The car that overturned had a baby strapped in its seat.
Trejo helped rescue the baby alongside another bystander, a young woman named Monica Jackson. Initially, Trejo crawled into the overturned vehicle from one side, but was unable to undo the baby seat buckle from that angle. Jackson helped undo the buckle from the other side and the two were able to safely remove the infant from the wreckage.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, three people were taken to hospital and there were no life-threatening injuries.
Asked at the scene about intervening, Trejo told ABC7 Eyewtiness news:"Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else.”

Trejo is known for often playing villains or antiheroes in films. His best-known role is that of Machete, a character initially developed for the Spy Kids series and later the titular character of a series of action films aimed at a more adult audience.
