The road to Rockhal starts at RTL during the last October weekend, with 58 hopefuls auditioning with 83 songs for a place in the LSC 2026 final and a shot at Eurovision.
Auditions for the Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC) will run from 24–26 October at RTL, with 58 artists presenting 83 original songs for a place in the televised final at Rockhal on 24 January 2026. The LSC winner will go on to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision finals in Vienna from 12–16 May.
To qualify, entrants had to meet one of three criteria: holding Luxembourgish nationality, having at least three years' residency, or having a proven cultural link to Luxembourg. Among the candidates, 70% are Luxembourgish nationals, 25% qualified through residency, and 5% through cultural ties.
In a statement, organisers further highlight broad diversity across the candidates: 47% are solely Luxembourgish, 22% hold dual nationality, and the remaining 30% come from different countries and continents. Gender representation, meanwhile, is described as "roughly equal".
With 59% of entries, English dominates as the language of choice for song lyrics. Nearly 30% of songs mix two languages – most often English and French, while 10% are written exclusively in French and 7% include Luxembourgish. In total, six languages are represented, including Portuguese, Spanish, and German.
This year's qualification process included two significant changes: artists were only allowed to submit up to three songs, down from five last year, while a new "team-up list" paired eligible singers with songwriters. Of 28 registered singers, 23 ultimately submitted a song.
For comparison, last year's open call drew 79 songs from 53 artists.
As for the jury, an international selection of creatives and Eurovision professionals will choose the LSC finalists at the close of auditions. Members include
- Karin Gunnarsson, contest producer for Sweden's Melodifestivalen,
- Gísli Berg, executive producer of Iceland's Söngvakeppnin,
- Paul 'Dr Eurovision' Jordan, UK Eurovision expert,
- Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal, lyricist and co-writer of Luxembourg's 2025 entry,
- and Elsie Bay, Norwegian singer-songwriter.

The list of LSC 2026 finalists will be announced on RTL platforms on 30 October.
