The second episode of the "Direktioun Trounwiessel" series is now online, following the chauffeur as he drives sponsors Lea Linster and Mike McQuaide to Wiltz ahead of the Grand Ducal tour.
A series of five short films titled "Direktioun Trounwiessel" ("Direction: Throne Change") has been released to introduce the sponsors who will accompany the Grand Ducal couple on their festive tour of Luxembourg on Saturday, 4 October. The second episode is now available online.
Produced by a young Luxembourgish artistic team, the films adopt a lighthearted and humorous approach. They follow a chauffeur from the Grand Ducal Palace as he transports the eight sponsors to their various stops on the day's itinerary.
The series serves multiple purposes. Primarily, it allows the public to learn the names and faces of the sponsors who will accompany the future Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie. The films also trace the journey of a mysterious object – a gift box from the people of Luxembourg – which the sponsors intend to present to the Grand Duke at the final event on the Glacis.
Additionally, the project functions as a tribute to Luxembourgish cinema. Through a fluid and rhythmic montage, it incorporates thematic clips from Luxembourgish films of the last 50 years, honouring the artists who have contributed to the national film industry.
The films are directed by renowned Luxembourgish writer-director Max Jacoby and feature Jules Werner in the role of the chauffeur. They were produced by Encore Films.
A new short film will be released online daily at 3pm throughout this week.
