Dozens of talented young authors submitted stories for our inaugural young authors contest, and our jury selected their five favourite stories in each category before letting the public vote. The results are in, and the winners are...

...to be announced below. First we would like to say thank you to all of the fantastic young authors who submitted stories. We were surprised not only by the number of stories submitted, but also by the quality of writing and imagination displayed by these budding young authors. For a small country, we certainly are home to a lot of talented young people with a bright future ahead of them.

Narrowing down the submissions to find our five finalists in each category was a difficult task, and judging by the very even spread of votes among the finalists... our audience also found it difficult to pick their favourites! Thousands of votes were cast across the stories, which is absolutely fantastic!

You can still read (and listen to!) all of the finalists here.

We've tallied up the votes, counted them twice, and the results are in. With no further ado, the winners are..

Category 1: Up-to-11 years old

This was a right race indeed, with three stories in particular fighting for the top spot!

First prize - a €100 voucher courtesy of Ernster - goes to.. Sreedeshna Nidamanuri and her story 'The Little Bunny and the Little Animals'. Congratulations!

Second prize - a €50 Ernster voucher - goes to Isabella Thiesson and her story 'McCacti'!

Third prize - also a €50 Ernster voucher - goes to Saja and their story 'A New Dawn'!

Category 2: Ages 12-16

Competition was equally fierce in the older age category, and the leading spots were up for grabs right until the end. The prizes for the first three spots are the same as for the younger category, and the winners are..

First prize - Isabelle Abella and her story 'For the Unwavering and the Dreaming'!

Second prize - Julia Dec and her story 'I Lack the Magic of Transfiguration'!

Third prize - Privya Trivedi and their story 'When the Fireflies Fly Home'!

Congratulations to all the winners - and if you didn't win this time, rest assured that there will be more writing contests for young people coming soon.
