Fans of the popular videogame plumber will be able to purchase frozen pizzas with Super Mario designs as part of a new collaboration with Nintendo for the German market.

Ahead of the upcoming "Super Mario Bros. Movie" release in April, Nintendo has been freely issuing licences for collaborations across a whole range of products, including CASIO and Tag Heuer watches, sweets, chocolate, and now for German customers, pizza.

Frozen pizza manufacturer "Pizzatainment", known for their previous collaboration with German rapper Capital Bra and his "Gangstarella pizza", is set to release two new pizzas inspired by Super Mario this February. The pizzas will be available exclusively in selected German supermarkets as part of the initial launch phase, according to the Pizzatainment website.

From plumbing to pizza

The first pizza, the "Triple-Salami-Explosion", is inspired by brothers Mario and Luigi and offers consumers a veritable selection of regular salami, chorizo and calabrese-style salami.

The second pizza design, the "Quattro Formaggi Deluxe", revolves around antagonists Wario and Waluigi and will particularly appeal to cheese lovers. As an extra treat, the manufacturers promise a scattering of "Sweet Sprinkles".

The Super Mario launch will be followed by yet another Pizzatainment collaboration in March, when the manufacturer will bring a Bayern Munich-inspired pizza to supermarket freezers in Germany, adorned with Gouda mozzarella, Calabrese salami, tomato pesto and herbs.
