That's right, now that the cat has clawed its way out of the bag, we are very, and we mean VERY, pleased to announce that our English Language Radio platform is set to launch in the very near future.

Why is this BIG news, you may ask?

Well, put simply, we are not messing around. Everything you know and love about RTL Today will be with you in Radio form. You can access us anywhere and everywhere at anytime.*

One of our key messages before launch is that we are going to do all in our power to SUPPORT and PROMOTE Luxembourg's MUSIC SCENE.

No more of the lazy and damaging LOCAL MUSIC tag, we are 100% behind music produced in Luxembourg AND music produced by Luxembourg artists all over the world.

So to prove this from the very get go and to apply FULL CAPS LOCK, HERE WE HAVE IT:

RTL TODAY IS LOOKING FOR A BRAND NEW SONG, WRITTEN, RECORDED, PERFORMED AND PRODUCED BY A LUXEMBOURG ACT/BAND TO BE THE VERY, VERY FIRST TRACK PLAYED ON RTL TODAY RADIO.

Move over Muse, get knotted Imagine Dragons, sit back down Adele, Ye and the Arctic Monkeys, you can quieten down too.

As we drag radio clicking and streaming into 2022, this is for US in the Duchy.

This is FOR YOU!

That's right, before anyone else in this world of ours is even given the chance to be featured on our brand new and shiny playlist, we are offering this ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY to get your song heard on Sam Steen's very first show.

Be still our beating hearts!

Will this get you a support slot with Ed Sheeran on his world tour? Probably not, though we will tag him on the socials and chance our luck.

Will it get you a slice of bone fide Luxembourg Entertainment history?

Abso-frikkin-lutely.

We appreciate that the clock is ticking. Dust off those lyric sheets, get back in those studios and get cracking.

Destiny awaits.

Send your files and descriptions (authors, band members, producers) to contest@rtl.lu via WeTransfer and good luck.

The deadline for entries is Midnight on Wednesday 23rd February 2022.

Rules:

The tracks must be delivered in broadcast quality, MP3/WAV.

Should be no more than 4mins in length.

Should be original compositions and not have been previously released/recorded.

Must not contain unlicensed samples.

Must not contain racism or any form of hate speech.

Should avoid glorifying drug use or violent acts.

It would be advisable to register the track with SACEM.

We will accept songs in any language, though, being that the station will be an English language based production, that would be our preference.

Sam Steen and the RTL Today Radio crew will select the winner along with a specialist panel.

The Winner will also be invited to perform the song LIVE at our launch party (Covid-19 restrictions notwithstanding) at a date to be confirmed.

The selected track may also be used in our Luxembourg wide promotional materials.

Tracks and acts that just miss the cut will also be sure to get airtime on our rotation.

*unless everything goes really bad, then it is just us and the cockroaches fighting over the scraps.
