1. Free Mobility Concert

What: Celebrating free public transport with music & food
Where: Neien Tramsschapp, Circuit de la Foire Internationale
When: Saturday, 29 February at 6pm
Tickets & Info: free entry, info and line-up on website.

For over a year we have been building up to this unique day in Luxembourg’s history: free public transport. Of course there was plenty of local and international praise and criticism since its announcement, but that shouldn’t stop us from having a blast this Saturday to celebrate the country’s future and mobility in general!

In honour of free public transport, artists will be playing at stations in Luxembourg and Esch, and even busk on trains and trams throughout the day. Come evening, the “Neien Tramsschapp” in Kirchberg invites you to an energetic line-up of local entertainers, including EDSUN, Michel Reis Music, Nicool, Serge Tonnar, Stayfou, TUYS and Flex Diamond, all while enjoying a drink from the bar and a bite to eat from multiple food trucks. Entrance is free!

2. “Cleanup Alzette” - Trash picking

What: Cleaning up the Alzette river
Where: Neimënster, 28 rue Münster
When: Saturday, 29 February at 9.30 am
Info: Prior registration, more info in facebook event.

Come down to Neumünster Abbey on Saturday morning to celebreate the first anniversary of “Pickitup”, an organisation involved in organising clean-up sessions. You’ll be collecting plastic bottles and packaging, cans and glass bottles - only waste that can still be recovered. Bags, pliers and gloves will be made available to participants. The short activity will be followed by a small eco fair and Veggie snacks. A great family event out in the fresh air, and you will immediately have covered your good deed for the day.

3. Yehan Jehan (UK): funky 80s pop-rock

What: For the lovers of Prince and Beck
Where: De Gudde Wellen, 17 Rue du St Esprit
When: Friday, February 28 at 8pm
Tickets & Info: €9/7 pre-sale, €12/€10 door, info on venue website

Your editor was really having a blast writing this one up, with “Treat Us Bad” running in the background. What an interesting sound, there’s something wonderfully nostalgic and futurustic about Yehan Jehan’s music. Respect for that fact that he writes, arranges, produces and mixes his work himself. It will be interesting to see how this works out in a live setting, most likely it will pack a punch of sound. This is one of those gems that may explode in the next few years, so this is your chance to see him in an accessble setting. Have a listen below:

4. The Last Holocaust Survivors - final exhibition weekend

What: Remembering Swiss Holocaust survivors
Where: Neimënster, 28 rue Münster
When: Friday, 28 February - Sunday 1 March from 11am-6pm
Info: free entry, info on venue website.

As a neutral country, Switzerland emerged unscathed from the Second World War. Who exactly are the survivors of the Holocaust in Switzerland? This exhibition gives a voice to the last witnesses of the Shoah and their descendants. Take a moment to view this personal and eye-opening exhibition during its last weekend at Neimünster.
