Altin Gün means “Golden Day” in Turkish, and it’s the best way to describe how the band wants to make you feel when you listen to their poetic music, beautifully crafted with a hint of modern and traditional sounds. Their new record firmly establishes the band, based out of Amsterdam, as masterful interpreters of the Anatolian rock and folk legacy, and as a leading voice in the emergent global psych scene. It was even nominated for the Grammy of “Best World Music Album”.

Photographer Véronique Kolber has been drawn to the strange, obscure and exciting works of H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King from a young age. Attracted by their stories and characters, as well as by America, its mysteries, its ordinary stories and strangeness, she made several trips to the United States over a period of eight years. She now presents a selection of personal images from her trips at Cercle Cité, accompanied by extracts from scripts by David Lynch, the Coen brothers, Christopher Nolan and other filmmakers, which she has reworked into a narrative to create new associations – between homage and re-creation.

After the death of an eight-year-old boy in a car accident a whole community is left injured and vulnerable, unable to forget what occurred. The wounds will heal, but scars remain. In this theatre piece, nominated by German magazine “Theater Heute” as “Play of the Year”, Dea Loher tells the tale of people on the borderline of forgetting and loving. A complex yet intriguing piece interwoven with poetic, kaleidoscopic language. The cast is Luxembourgish-German, and directed by Anna-Elisabeth Frick.

Wynton Marsalis is one of the most well-known US jazz trumpet players, having worked with an array of phenomenal artists including Herbie Hancock and Art Blakey. He started the Classical Jazz summer series at the Lincoln Center and became musical director of the band. At the age of 22, he was the youngest and only musician to win a Grammy in both Jazz and Classical within the same year. One of the finest and most experienced trumper players and musicians out there. Get to the Phil early, because you don’t want to miss out on this superstar and his stunning band.

A comic-book nerd and Elvis fanatic Clarence and a prostitute named Alabama fall in love. Clarence breaks the news to her pimp and ends up killing him. He grabs a suitcase of cocaine on his way out thinking it is Alabama’s clothing. The two hit the road for California hoping to sell the cocaine, but the mob is soon after them. The perfect Valentine’s Day movie?

On 10 May, 1940, the German invasion threw 45,000 people out of Luxembourg. Among these wanderers were the grand ducal family, the government in exile and many Jewish refugees. The found refuge in Portugal, itself subjected to a dictorial regime. From the 1960s, Luxembourg in turn welcomed Portuguese refugees who opposed the Salazar regime. Historic ties with Portugal are tightening - two lands of hope.
