RESET is more than just another jazz festival in the heart of Luxembourg city. As with every edition, the organisation has invited 8 talented jazz virtuosi from all over Europe to work together at the Abbey for a week to explore, create and improvise. The final performance over three consecutive evenings, with each soirée providing a totally different atmosphere, shows off their musical chops and is often as new to the audience as it is to the musicians themselves. What: Fundraiser for victims of Albanian earthquake

Students of St George’s International School are putting on a special fundraising performance for victims of the Albanian earthquake, which killed 51 people and has left nearly 3,000 injured. The pieces performed are by Albanian composers, and those of Pierre Weber, a Luxembourgish composer who composed on traditional Albanian motives. ZwartVogels immerses the audience in the mind and heart of a child with an ill mother, making him feel totally helpless. But to have a big heart is the most beautiful quality in life, and in this tale the child suddenly begins to see rays of sunshine pop out from between the grey clouds. In her new project supported by Rotondes, Audrey Dero composes a puzzle of images and music, words and sensations, and tackles a complex subject with a touch of poetry and surrealism.

Ana is fascinated by the luminous celestial bodies that she can see through her window when it gets dark. Louis, in turn, cannot take his eyes off Ana. He tries very hard to get her attention, but Ana’s gaze is only fixed on the sky. So Louis has no choice but to investigate the cause of her enthusiasm and sets out into space. He climbs as high as he can until finally reaching zero gravity, drifting off into space. Upon his return, he brings Ana some stars from the sky. Do you think Louis will now catch her attention back on earth?

China will celebrate its Year of the Rat next week! The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg has organised a full day of activities in the city center for this, including stands and workshops on Place d’Armes between 1.30pm and 4.30pm. The big bang is definitely the spectacular Chinese dragon and lion parade at 2.30pm, performed by professionals flown in from Paris.

Summer days full of dreams, love and joy....such is the daily life of Nour, 16, and her group of friends. Until the day that Maurice, 35, looked at her and forced her to marry him. Since then, her everyday dreams have turned into household chores and confinement.
The Economist called it “A heartbreaking and beautifully done look at the cost of child marriage.” The screening of the film will be followed by a discussion with the director Khalil Dreyfus Zaarour.
