Josh Oudendijk
Here are your editor's picks for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We could recommend a wonderful shopping complex visit this weekend, as the brand-new Infinity has opened its doors on Thursday, but be prefer focusing on some excellent culture events instead. Are you a music lover and collector? Then the international record fair will be something for you. Haven’t had enough wine this year? Taste more on Saturday. Or turn your dream of becoming a superstar musician into reality? The Open Mic stage is yours!

40 international exhibitors will be present at this yearly Rockhal event, offering the best of rock and pop records (vinyl, CD, DVD) from the last half century.

On stage, Bartleby ornaments his poems with his delicate guitar playing and soothing soundscapes that he’s creating in his sound laboratory. In the mood of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens, Bartleby Delicate’s live performances are filled with an eager determination without losing any of its sincerity and tenderness.

Now he is back in town with an intimate concert as part of Mesa Verde’s Soup & Concert series.

You know wine tasting is a serious matter when the event takes place in the early afternoon rather than at 9pm.

If you’re feeling bored during the family walk on Saturday, or have had enough of Christmas markets, why not pop into the lovely Gudde Wëllen to experience a selection of wines, including biological and organic ones? Bring the kids along and leave them in the corner with a hot chocolate if you must.

What: A wonderful children’s tale for adults, too!
Where: Philharmonie, 1 Place de l’Europe
When: Saturday 14 December - Sunday 15 December (times vary)
More information: Venue Website

Imagine this: O

nce upon a time there was a little cottage in the forest, in it a grumpy man, a naturalist with a disliking for people. But he loves trees, animals and stones. Suddenly, a girl from the city appears. She knows nothing about the trees or the animals or the stones of the forest. But she sings. The man is tired explaining everything about nature to her, but he realises maybe not all humans are as bad as he thought. After all, they can sing!

In the staged concert, actor Michael Günther, singer Jenifer Lary and four musicians discover songs and pieces by Schubert, Schumann, Strauss, Humperdinck, Mozart, Debussy, Wagner and others.

6. Discover new talent at Grund Club Open Mic

What: Not your usual Open Mic Night. Better.
Where: The Black Stuff, 15 Val de Hamm
When: Saturday 14 December (8pm-11pm)
More information: Facebook Event

This is more than just a general Open Mic. The Grund Club Luxembourg is a one-of-a-kind, family-like music collective. Besides their regular showcase performances in different venues around the country, where they bring together some of the finest singer-songwriters, composers and musicians in the scene, the Open Mic is there as a platform to invite musicians from all levels up on stage to play one or two songs.

Besides showcasing their own music, musicians can pick a cover song from a long list provided by the Grund Club, which they are then able to perform live with a full-on professional session band. This is the night to showcase your craft, try out an Open Mic for the first time, smash it again if you’re a natural, or simply head over as an audience member and enjoy the diverse performances with a drink or meal.

Participants are invited to sign up before the night through the Grund Club Open Mic facebook page.

7. Before you miss it: Last Day of Eldorado installation

More information: Venue website

This weekend will be the last chance to see Luxembourg artist Désirée Wickler’s exhibition, which has been running since later September of this year.

The exhibition’s direct and explicit tone is devoted to the subject of death, expressing a critical view on our capitalist society. Multiple techniques are used, creating a varied and diverse presentation.

The installations are accompanied by a musical adaptation of the poem Eldorado by the Austrian poet Sophie Reyer.
