Although parking fees are being increased all around it seems, Dominique did not expect to pay more than 500 euros to get her car out of a parking lot after shopping for groceries.
The explanation for the incident is simple: Dominique had mistakenly put an older parking ticket from the same lot into the machine, which she had forgotten in her car since October 2019. It follows that the machine subsequently estimated the price for four months instead of just a few hours.
In the end, the story had a happy ending after all: the city council arranged for Dominique to be reimbursed for the false parking fee. The same was done for other people who had encountered the same problem.
