This week on The Sam Steen Show, Luxembourg’s own Andrea Galleti, frontman of One Last Time and current contestant on The Voice of Germany, joined Sam in studio to talk about his journey on the hit show and what comes next for his band.
Galleti, who has made it through to the battle rounds on The Voice of Germany, described the intense process leading up to his televised audition. “Before you even get to the stage, there’s a pre-casting where you only have nine seconds to impress the judges,” he explained. Competing against dozens of other hopefuls, he performed short sections from songs like Falling by Harry Styles, Rolling in the Deep by Adele, and Talkin’ Bout a Revolution by Tracy Chapman.
His choice of female-led songs, he said, was deliberate, offering a way to stand out. The strategy worked: his Rolling in the Deep performance earned a spot on Rea Garvey’s team, with the Irish singer known for mentoring powerful voices on the show.
Performing under bright lights and roaring crowds proved a challenge, though. “It’s so loud, you can barely hear yourself,” Andrea said, laughing. “It’s ten times louder than the Luxembourg Song Contest.”
Now, with the battle rounds airing on German television, Andrea is preparing to face off against other contestants in duet-style performances. His upcoming round will see him performing Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet, a high-energy challenge that demands both teamwork and power.
Outside of The Voice, Andrea continues to front One Last Time, who were finalists in the Luxembourg Song Contest earlier this year. The band will play shows in Berlin on November 15 and Cologne on November 29, with Luxembourg dates to be announced soon.
