Recently, Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe managed to connect with Arya from UK band Skindred. Being a long-standing fan of the group, Stephen was pleasantly surprised to discover a shared past with Arya, possibly having crossed paths during their youth.
The duo delved into various topics, exploring the importance of living in the present and reflecting on what the band considers to be the “defining moments of their career.” Additionally, they discussed the reasons behind the eager anticipation of the band’s new album, “Smile,” among their devoted fans. In a candid moment, Arya also openly shared his personal remedies for coping with night terrors.
We also gain insight into why “Smile,” Skindred’s latest LP, has emerged as their most crucial and significant work in recent times. Additionally, it became evident that playing live remains the lifeblood driving the band’s enduring success.
In the second part of the interview, we talk about how the band’s fans have remained loyal and how journalism is more important than ever, especially as tastemakers rarely actually are… We also touch on how the band were huge in the States but less so in the UK and why.
Arya is blunt about how fine the margins are in relation to being in a successful band, and a financially viable one.

“The best time to be in Skindred is right now. This success, we are enjoying is the result of hard work and trust.”
