Formed in 1999 by Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan, the band burst into the spotlight with their 2000 debut Mer de Noms, including hits like “Judith” and “3 Libras”.
Now, if you don’t know these two names and are scratching your head, do yourselves a favour and get some learning in. Keenan is perhaps best known as the vocalist and co-founder of progressive rock band TOOL; Howerdel is also connected to the band, having worked as a guitar tech for them in the 90s, before becoming a distinguished musician in his own right.
Over more than 25 years, they’ve released four studio albums, including Thirteenth Step (2003), eMOTIVe (2004) and Eat the Elephant (2018) - and conquered stages around the world from the Hollywood Bowl to Madison Square Garden. You’ll also have heard their cuts on the patchy but incredibly popular Resident Evil movie soundtracks.
“Number 7 was always my favourite - I still believe in albums, they remain important, the order of songs matter to me”
Doors open at 7pm, and the show promises to be a full-throttle celebration of their catalogue, both the beloved classics and newer cuts. If you’re a fan of alternative-rock legacy acts who still pack punch, this one’s for you.
Jehnny Beth, known globally as the frontwoman of the English post-punk outfit Savages, was also recently announced as a support act. A frequent collaborator with critically acclaimed artists – as well as a well-established actress – she will bring added energy to an already charged evening.
Some cool stuff might be on the way from your friends here at RTL Today Radio – perhaps an interview, maybe a little ticket giveaway? Stay tuned!
