The Luxembourg City Film Festival, often called LuxFilmFest for short, is back for its 16th edition from 5 to 15 March. As Luxembourg’s premier annual film event and official national cinema festival, it is proudly supported by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Luxembourg.

As in previous years, the festival jury brings together renowned figures from the world of cinema, and this year is no exception. The jury president will be the director, screenwriter, and produces Rodrigo Sorogoyen, a well-known figure in contemporary European cinema through his directing of El Reino, As Bestas, the series Antidisturbios, or his latest movie, El Ser Querido.

Screenings and events take place across Luxembourg City, including at the Cinémathèque, Ciné Utopia, Kinepolis Kirchberg, and other cultural venues.

Events include the Immersive Pavilion, which exposes works in virtual reality across venues such as Neimënster, Mudam, and Villa Louvigny from 5 to 22 March. It also includes competition pieces exploring interactive storytelling and immersive art, with a Best Immersive Experience award judged by international experts.

Alongside the exhibition, the Immersive Days bring presentations as well as discussions with artists and professionals on the future of immersive media and virtual reality.

Another highlight is LuxFilmFest Fabric, a programme of masterclasses, workshops, and hands-on ateliers designed to explore the inner workings of cinema. Through practical sessions and expert-led discussions, it invites participants to dive into the mechanics behind film making.

There is plenty on offer for kids and teens, too: Alongside a dedicated selection of films for younger audiences, the festival also organises creative ateliers and workshops for kids at venues such as Cercle Cité, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, and Mudam throughout the festival.
