The film, co-produced by Luxembourg company Samsa and starring Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps in the lead role, will feature among 14 films selected for the “Un certain regard” category. This selection, intended to highlight original films and future talents, is considered the antechamber of the official competition.
Film Fund Luxembourg will once again be represented at the Cannes festival, with around twenty entities hosted at its pavilion. The traditional Luxembourg day will take place on Thursday 19 May 2022 in the presence of audiovisual professionals and the press.
“Corsage” is a modern adaptation of the life of Austro-Hungarian Empress Elisabeth, or Sissi as she is commonly known. The film will feature Krieps as Sissi herself, where she will be joined by fellow Luxembourgish actress Jeanne Werner. Filming took place from March to July 2021 in Luxembourg and Austria.
