Festival director Radek Lipka dropped by the Sam Steen Show on Today Radio to chat with Sam and Meredith about this year’s programme.
The festival has been running since 2008, with 9,850 festival-goers attending the 2022 edition across some of the Grand Duchy’s best cinemas at Neimënster, Utopia, Kinepolis, Cinémathèque and more.
CinEast 2023 will take place over 18 days and is comprised of over 100 features and short films by directors from 21 countries. Almost every film (98%) will feature English subtitles.
This year’s edition will also include a focus on Ukraine, with a total of 11 films by Ukrainian film-makers or dedicated to Ukraine.
The opening film of CinEast 2023 is In The Rearview, a documentary telling the tale of a Polish van used to transport refugees from the war to safety.
The festival’s opening concert on Saturday 7 October at Melusina will also feature Ukrainian folk band Yagody.
Keen cinemagoers can buy a festival pass, with access to 10 screenings (physical and online) at a reduced price. Otherwise, single tickets can be bought for 9€.
