The Centre for the Luxembourgish Language (ZLS) has published the eighth volume in its series on Luxembourgish vocabulary. Titled "Vun Dräibiz bis Vullemätti", the latest instalment is dedicated entirely to insults.

Unveiled on Monday, the book contains 117 Luxembourgish insults, complete with example sentences and translations into German, French, English, and Portuguese.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Culture on Monday, the "insults" category on the Luxembourgish Online Dictionary (LOD) ranks among the site's most frequently visited sections. This popularity, the Ministry noted, made it a natural choice to publish a "more daring" volume. However, the Ministry stressed that the book's purpose is not to encourage unkindness, but rather to highlight the creativity and expressiveness of the Luxembourgish language.

The eighth volume went on sale on Monday, 29 June, at a price of €12.50. It is available in bookshops throughout Luxembourg.
