A new bridge is currently being installed on Route de Longwy in Dippach, which is why the N5 will remain shut until Tuesday at least.
Construction work began early on Sunday morning. Authorities expect that it will take six to ten hours until the new bridge, which weighs about 500 tonnes, is ready.

Two hydraulic presses are being used to conduct the meticulous operation. Construction workers further need to pay extreme attention as to not damage any underground cables and pipes at the site.
Once completed, the bridge will establish a new connection between the towns of Schouweiler and Sprinkange. Furthermore, it will allow for a renaturation of the Mess river bed and the creation of a flood protection zone.
If everything goes according to plan, Route de Longwy is expected to reopen to traffic on Tuesday.
