According to the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD), the concept proposed by the Ministry is "too focussed on hospitals and the state".
The AMMD sticks to its critical stance regarding the government's plans for an expansion of outpatient care outside hospitals.
The Ministry of Health proposes the creation of a limited number of medical centres for specific treatments and diseases that would be integrated into a hospital group. The AMMD thinks that the plans, which were initially put forth in May, are "by far not enough" to tackle the challenges faced by the healthcare sector, especially when it comes to the persistent doctor shortage.
The AMMD published its opinion on the draft bill on Thursday. The association criticises that doctors would be subjected to "detrimental restrictions". According to the AMMD, the concept proposed by the Ministry is "too focussed on hospitals and the state" and based on "archaic reflexes". The draft bill ignores the needs of patients and specialised doctors, the association argues.
In its written statement, the AMMD regrets once again that the Gesondheetsdësch ("health round table") was "nothing but a token event" that did not lead to actual discussion with the workers in the sector.
