In an interview with RTL following Friday's government council meeting, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said the gap between the second and booster doses would also be reduced from 4 to 3 months.
Children aged 12 and over would also be permitted to get the booster, Bettel added.
In terms of the mandatory vaccination debate, Bettel said the government had charged a panel of 5 experts to answer questions on whether the mandate was required, as well as offering details on the impact of Omicron and how mandatory jabs could affect it. The panel will present their findings to the government over the next few days.

The government is also putting together a dossier of questions and answers to help further the consultation debate within the Chamber of Deputies, which will take place in the week of 17 January. The questions will be answered by members of society as well as the ethics committee.
